If you are someone who knows me, you know that I choose white wine over red wine very often. I have a real appreciation for white wine, I find great value, and many times more well made wines in my sweet spot price point ($17-$35).
You will see wine reviews from $5 and up. Really. I will, on occasion review wine over $50, but for the most part, I like to stay in the aforementioned sweet spot.
I also co-host a weekly and bi-weekly virtual wine tastings. If you want to know more about them, or join the next group, reach out to me on Instagram @winewizard.lv
I really believe you should not drink bad wine, and so I hope these reviews help you choose wine you will enjoy!
Cheers!

VALUE ALERT!! 2018 Hondrrabi Zuri from Urki Bi in Txakolina. I paid $12.99 at whole foods. This a super fun, tart green apple and lemon bomb. Some fresh herbs on the nose and a slight sting and minerality on the tongue. Definitely worth a look if you've never had Txakolina!π
2016 Fume Blanc from Grgich Hills. My wife loves this wine, so its been something we drink from time to time. Unfortunately this was on it's way to be corked π₯ (TCA) and since there has been a no return policy at stores here in Las Vegas (Covid-19) we pushed through it (cuz were troopers πͺππ·) I paid $39 at whole foods TOO MUCH! ( you can get it on the website for $31) But I love Grgich Hills, and we were really in the mood for this. Grapefruit, passion fruit and oak on the nose with pineapple, kiwifruit, and lime on the tongue. Not too much to say about it because like I said it had cork taint. Do not let that scare you off thought!!! Grgich Hills makes crazy good wine!

VALUE ALERT!! I was at Trader Joe's here in Las Vegas, skimming the wine section when I noticed this bottle. It was just sitting there on the shelf and looked lonely so long story short...it followed me home. I paid $7 with absolutely no expectations but when I opened it up I was immediately hit with honeydew, pear and toast! Off to a good start, when tasting it had a good mouth feel and its minerality and flinty side came out. One negative to this one has almost no finish π₯ BUT that just means drink it with food or be prepared to be pouring more than one bottle πΎ . It was very surprising for the price and I will be adding this to my regular shopping list.
Perfect summer wine...
2017 Nichelini Roman Press White. This one is a little tougher to get your hands on as they don't make very much of it and the Muscadelle acreage is constantly shrinking. I paid $21 at the vineyard (I am a member). Great citrus and floral notes right out of the bottle and on the tongue, I get it's more mineral side, lots of stone fruit (peaches, apricots) with a very slight guava hint. I have been a member here for some time mostly because of their Muscadet, but they have quite a lot of great wines. Cant find them locally? Do what I do, and buy it direct.

2015 Domaine Francois Bauer Gewurztraminer: I find gewurztraminer to be a very polarizing grape, and this was definitely the case with our weekly wine group. I paid $19 for this bottle from a distributor (corkscru) in Oregon. On the nose you are immediately hit with canned peaches, pretty typical rose and lychee notes, and then there is also some apricot, honey and white flowers. As for taste, all the aforementioned notes were there, but also include apple and mixed nuts with a tangerine peel finish. I like this wine for discussion, but it is not my favorite varietal for straight up drinking. As a group, we were split 60/40 on this wine.
